Therapy/Counselling, Supervision, Social Work and Trauma Sensitive Yoga in Otautahi & the Canterbury Region

Jo has been involved in Social Work since 1987 when she started her social work training at Massey University.  After completing a Bachelor of Social Work Degree she worked as a Medical Social Worker at Christchurch Hospital from 1993 - 1994.  This was followed by seven years working as a Social Worker/Counsellor for a Child Adolescent and Family mental Health Service, five years as a Social Worker/Counsellor for the North Canterbury Youth Drug & Alcohol Service and two years as a Social Worker/Counsellor with Presbyterian Support in North Canterbury.  She has been in Private Practice (APT Services Ltd) since 2005 although spent some time working in Child Protection with the Queensland Government and as a Team Leader/Professional Advisor for a DHB.

 

Jo has also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Sciences (endorsed in Mental Health) from Otago University in 2004, a Post Graduate Diploma in Social Service Supervision (with Distinction) through Massey University in 2009, a Master of Philosophy (Social Work) through Massey University in 2012, completed the 300 hour Certification Program in Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga facilitator training through the Center for Trauma and Embodiment in March 2022, and completed the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training through Creature Yoga.

 

Jo is an ACC Approved Treatment Provider and can provide counselling for Sensitive Claims and for Psychological Injury as a result of Physical Trauma.

 

Field Work Education has been undertaken by Jo through Massey, Canterbury and Otago Universities.
